Megatronous Returns: Chapter One

Pain. The familiar feeling was pounding through his head. What had happened? The last thing he remembered was meeting his brother, Orion Pax, for the last time before they were to appear before the High Council. Had he been ambushed in the process of returning? If so, then he had no memory of it. With a groan he turned his head; attempting to get a bearing of his surroundings, but instead of the gleaming surface of Cybertron his optics were met with the unfamiliar surface of what seemed to be an organic planet. Where am I? Propping his arms beneath him he pushed himself up into a sitting position, dizziness instantly overtook him and he froze, waiting for it to subside. Something warm was running down his face. Energon. He reached up, trying to discover how extensive the wound was when the sound of foot steps reached him over the pounding in his head. Tensing he prepared himself for a fight and raised his gaze to meet his opponent; only to relax upon seeing Orion Pax.
"Brother." He began, then halted his speech at the look in Orion's optics.
"That trick won't work a second time Megatron." Orion's optics gleamed and two blades burst from his arms. Blades? He had no idea that the young data clerk possessed his own weapons. The thought would have even made him laugh had he not been facing them at this very moment. His brother began walking toward him, a look of determination on his face.
"Orion? What are you doing?" Confusion and annoyance riddled his voice. His brother halted for a second, realization and something else dawning on his features. Then he retracted his blades back into his arms and walked forward at a brisker pace.
"Megatronous?" He asked.
"Who else?" Megatronous shot back with a grin.
"Optimus, what are you doing!?" A small female Cybertronian appeared at the top the hill to his right, she was followed by two males; one green and one yellow and black. Megatronous recognized none of them. "Optimus you can't be serious?" Intoned the green one behind her.
"Return to base." Was his brothers firm reply. The female opened her mouth to protest again, but Orion gave her a firm look and she went quite. A groundbridge opened behind the three Cybertronians and they turned; vanishing into its mist.
"Care to explain? ...Optimus?" Megatronous narrowed his eyes at his brother. Something very wrong was going on here. He was on the verge of drilling his brother as to what had happened to him when a fresh wave pain shot through his head. Vision in his left eye, the side of his head that had been wounded, began to flicker; the energon running down his failing to help it. The pounding increased until he could no longer hear, he could see Orion activating his comlink and speaking into it, but could no longer decipher the words. A groundbridge opened up to their left, and an older orange and white Cybertronian emerged; a grim look on his face. He nodded at Orion, and the two bots each gave the wounded gladiator  their shoulders for support. Half carrying him through the bridge.
Only half conscious, Megatronous took in his surroundings as they reached the other side. They appeared to be in some sort of cave made of the same substance as the ground he had been on before entering the groundbridge. Only it appeared to have been hallowed out by sentient beings, lighting fixtures were mounted on the ceiling, and some sort of frail metal structuring railed the parameters of the room. He wondered what it was for, but no use occurred to him other then some sort of ridiculous decoration. They guided him over to a medical table by a variety of monitors, and lay him down. The second he hit the table the pain doubled and his vision faded to black.

"His condition is stable, and I still find this to be a very bad idea." Ratchet grumbled to Optimus as he went over Megatron's vitals again. "If you ask me we should finish him here and now, or at least throw him back to his beloved Decepticons. Let them treat him. What happened to his head?"
"I could not allow the Decepticons to obtain the relic, I was forced to fire upon and destroy it as a last resort once it was in Megatron's possession. The explosion that resulted from its destruction is what damaged him so severely." Prime replied simply. Optimus walked around the medical table for a better view of his brother. "Why does he think himself Megatronous?"
"The explosion seems to have damaged his memory banks, setting them offline temporarily. Obviously the ones that are still intact contain much older memories; thus he believes himself Megatronous. That is as far as I can deduce at least. It would be far easier to make a more specific diagnostic had I less primitive equipment to work with." Ratchet gave the computers at his disposal a venomous look.
"How long till he gets his memory back?" Intoned Arcee, who had until then been listening quietly on the sidelines with the other Autobots. As she approached the table she gave Megatron a look that contained even more despise than the one Ratchet was giving his equipment.
"Do I look like the fantastic all knowing fact source to you?" Grumbled Ratchet, "Until his memory banks heal, but I have no way of knowing how long that process will take; could be anywhere from a few weeks to several years." He continued before she could reply.
"So what do we do with him?" Intoned Bulkhead; looking slightly confused. Optimus didn't seem to take notice. He was busy gazing at the bot he had once trusted more then any other; the bot he had called brother. Could it possibly be true? Could he have even a slight chance of turning Megatron from his evil ways and restoring him to glory? He had to try. He owed Megatron that much; without him he would still be a simple data clerk, slaving away behind a desk. Even if his brother had brought the destruction of their planet, there was nothing he could do to change that now, the past was the past. But the future, if he could win Megatron over, then the war would be won; this conflict would end.
"You can't seriously be considering giving him another chance can you?!" Cried Arcee. "Optimus, after all he has done, all the pain he caused; you can't seriously be considering trusting him again? Simply keeping him contained in the base is dangerous enough. What about the humans?"
"I am well aware of Megatron's wrongdoings Arcee. But if we have so much as a chance to change him, and end this war. Then the risk must be run; as for the humans, they will simply have to remain away from the base until it is deemed safe." Optimus Prime replied calmly.
"Miko's not gonna like that." Mumbled Bulkhead from the back. But no other protests were given.
From his half conscious state Megatronous, who had partially awoken and was eavesdropping on the last part of their conversation, wondered what he could have done that would make even his own brother distrust him? And all the others despise him? He tried to concentrate, to think it out more. But the pain was slowing down his mind, making it impossible to focus; reluctantly he allowed himself to slip back into darkness.
